Nets' Josh Minott reacts to playing against former Celtics teammates

Brooklyn Nets forward Josh Minott had to wait until his eighth game on the Nets roster before he would finally see the floor in a 126-110 loss to the San Antonio Spurs on Feb. 26. Brooklyn visited the Boston Celtics the following day and lost 148-111, but Minott was able to see extended playing time against a Celtics team that traded him prior to the deadline.

"[It was] weird at first. But, I mean, [at the] end of the day, I got one jersey on, and their jersey doesn't match mine. So, that's how I view it," Minott said after the disappointing loss to his former team in the Celtics. Minott played 16 minutes off the bench and had a solid performance, including one of the best dunks by a Nets player this season as he looked to make his mark on the game in some way.

"It's not like I consider them comrades, you know? We're friends off the court, but during those 48 minutes, it's war, it's enemies," Minott continued. "That's one thing I learned here is every time you step on the court, every 48 minutes, it's war. So, I look on the other side of the court, that jersey doesn't match mine. We're enemies for that 48 minutes."

Minott finished Friday's contest with nine points and two rebounds and while the Nets had a disappointing finish to the game, he was one of the bright spots in the contest. Brooklyn hasn't been able to win a game since coming out of the All-Star break, but if players like Minott can continue playing well during his stints on the floor, head coach Jordi Fernandez may be able to shake up the rotation towards the end of the season.

For Sunday's game against the Cleveland Cavaliers, the Nets have already ruled out rookie guard Egor Demin due to left plantar fascia injury management while center Nic Claxton is questionable with a right thumb sprain. If Claxton were also to miss Sunday's contest against the Cavaliers, players like Minott can see more playing time and it seems like his mindset is what the team needs to see at this point in the year.
