The New York Giants have done a great job building their defensive front. Upgrading the secondary looks to be a top priority for them next offseason and Notre Dame’s Leonard Moore has the potential to be one of the best cornerbacks in recent draft memory.
In Ryan Moran's way-too-early 2027 NFL mock draft for Yahoo! Sports, the Giants are projected to bolster their secondary by selecting the standout Notre Dame cornerback.
The New York Giants have done a great job building their defensive front. Upgrading the secondary looks to be a top priority for them next offseason. Notre Dame’s Leonard Moore has the potential to be one of the best cornerbacks in the draft in recent memory.
Moore, a 6-foot-2, 197-pound junior from Round Rock, Texas, has emerged as one of the premier defensive prospects in the class following an impressive college career.
As a freshman in 2024, Moore stepped into a starting role and recorded 48 tackles, two interceptions, and 11 passes defensed while earning Freshman All-American and FWAA Freshman Defensive Player of the Year honors. In 2025, he elevated his game with 31 tackles, five interceptions (including a pick-six), and seven passes defensed, securing unanimous All-American status and finalist nods for major awards like the Jim Thorpe.
At 6-foot-2 with length, athleticism, and ball skills, Moore projects as a shutdown boundary corner capable of matching top receivers and disrupting passing attacks.
For a Giants defense that has invested heavily up front under head coach John Harbaugh, adding a talent like Moore would create a more complete unit heading into the 2027 season. Analysts view him as a potential early-round cornerstone who could immediately elevate New York's pass defense.
