Is September here yet? That's what many in the Chicago Bears' camp keep asking, since there's so much excitement surrounding this team's upcoming season with quarterback Caleb Williams and head coach Ben Johnson.

No, it's not September yet. But, there's still plenty of news hitting around the NFL.

Ahead of the upcoming season, the NFL has made an announcement about Williams, and it's a good one. How good? Well, this news shows that both Williams and the Bears have come very far in a short time. This upcoming season will mark Johnson's second with the franchise. And expectations are sky-high for both him and Williams.

NFL makes Caleb Williams announcement

On Friday, the Bears officially announced that Williams is the No. 51 best player in the NFL, across all positions, as determined by the league. The NFL also took to X to announce the news.

Of course, reaction was mixed, because some Bears fans would like to see him higher. But, think of it this way. He didn't even rank last year. He wasn't even in the top 100. So, this is a sizable leap.

"The No. 1 overall pick in the 2024 draft made a huge leap in his second NFL season in 2025, leading the Bears to their first division title since 2018 and first postseason win since 2010," the Bears' official website states.

Williams deserves it, too, looking at the stats and research. He had a monster year in 2025 working with Johnson and set a Bears single-season passing record with 3,942 yards and ranked fifth in the NFL with a 27-to-7 touchdown-to-interception ratio. Those are elite numbers, and that's why Williams made such a big leap on the NFL Top 100 tally ahead of the 2026 season.
