NFL fans react to the news of ESPN firing Ryan Clark

ESPN has fired longtime NFL analyst Ryan Clark, and more cuts are expected to come later this week, according to "The Athletic".

Clark has been with the network for over a decade and was part of their Monday Night Football crew.

Clark was on ESPN’s “NFL Live” on Monday when he was informed of the decision during the show, said the sources who talked to "The Athletic", speaking on the condition of anonymity to discuss a sensitive matter. Clark did not finish the program.

Sources at ESPN said they told Clark on air so the story couldn't leak to him before they could tell him. The Athletic is also reporting that Clark's job has been in jeopardy since the Super Bowl and that executives at ESPN have soured on him recently, especially after he got into a confrontation with one of his ESPN colleagues on the air last year.

Clark has also managed to alienate many NFL fans, especially when he talks about race. Fans' disdain for Clark was evident today when his firing was announced.

"Ryan Clark has been deservedly fired from ESPN. He attacked RGIII last year for saying Angel Reese hates Caitlin Clark’s guts. He said because RGIII is married to a White woman, he can’t comment on this topic. This is one of his many racist moments. Good riddance to this clown."

While some were glad to see Clark go, others think it was wrong for ESPN to fire him.

"Everyone wants to trash Ryan Clark and that’s their prerogative. It’s disappointing because he is an Emmy winner and was one of the few who didn’t apologize for being himself. You want a whitewashed media presence, I guess you’ll get it."

Clark has yet to release a statement on his firing. He still does have a podcast called "The Pivot," so he won't be totally silent this upcoming NFL season.
