Nikola Jokic shares plan for NBA future with Nuggets

The Denver Nuggets took a chance at Nikola Jokic by selecting him at No. 41 in the 2012 NBA Draft. He was a relatively unknown European player at the time but established himself as an all-time great with the franchise.

“My idea and desire is to stay in Denver,” Jokic said (translated to English). “I’ll probably sign (an extension) next season, the reason is strictly business. I would like to stay in Denver for the rest of my life, but that’s up to them.”

Jokic is currently playing for Serbia in the FIBA World Cup qualifiers. The eight-time All-Star led his team to a 94-81 win over Bosnia and Herzegovina on Monday. He recorded a triple-double of 20 points, 10 rebounds and 11 assists.

Nikola Jokic’s NBA career achievements

Jokic is widely considered as one of the most polarizing players in the NBA today. Denver runs its offense through him as a point-center, as he has the ability to set up teammates despite standing at 6-foot-11

The 31-year old is a one-time NBA champion, one-time Finals MVP and three-time regular-season MVP. He is also an eight-time All-Star and eight-time All-NBA team member. Jokic is second on the league’s all-time triple-doubles list with 198, just 11 shy of Russell Westbrook’s 208.
