Amid all of the questions about the Denver Nuggets potentially landing LeBron James, there's more that has to be looked at in this entire situation.
For one, signing James won't be easy for any NBA team, simply because of his status. Teams are always going to be interested in landing a player of his caliber, and what he can bring to a team off the court can't be understated, either. Regardless, if James ends up in Denver, it's not going to be because of off-the-court things.
Denver is a gorgeous place, an incredible city, and can offer a lot. However, at this stage of James' career, he's trying to win basketball games, and the Nuggets can do that.
Interestingly enough, however, it doesn't sound like Denver is in the lead to land him. According to the latest report from his longtime ESPN insider/friend, the Cleveland Cavaliers seem to be the favorite at the moment.
“The same seems to be taking place this offseason. Teams pitching James have reported mostly one-way communication. James' recent walk down memory lane with his 2016 Cavs teammates and spending extra time in Akron this summer have definitely contributed to the notion that he might be leaning toward a return home to Cleveland. Naturally, teams hoping to secure James' services have noticed,” Brian Windhorst wrote.
It remains uncertain when James will make his decision, so the Nuggets aren't going to get an answer anytime in the next few days.
It's possible that's the case, but until that happens, there's really no say on how things will go. It's not surprising to hear the Cavaliers are the favorites, however, which is ultimately bad news for the Nuggets.
