Online hatred: FIFA deletes more than seven million posts
FIFA has removed more than seven million potentially abusive posts and comments in social media during the World which ends on Sunday.
Football's ruling body said on Saturday that this 14 times more than at the previous tournament in 2022 in Qatar.
Since that event FIFA has been using a protection service from online abuse which it has made available for all teams, coaches, players and officials.
FIFA said it has reported more than 200,000 insulting and intimidating messages and taken according steps. More than 1,000 exceptionally grave threats have been reported to the relevant authorities.
The 48-team World Cup in the United States, Mexico and Canada started on June 11 and concludes on Sunday with the final between Spain and Argentina.
