PFF: Jordan Love had NFL-leading connections with Golden, Kraft in 2025
There weren’t many positive takeaways from the end of the Green Bay Packers’ 2025 season, but as a whole, it did allow Jordan Love to build two of the strongest connections in the league.
According to Pro Football Focus, Love's connections with Matthew Golden and Tucker Kraft led all wide receivers and tight ends in expected points added (EPA) per play last season.
Why does it matter?
As Chicago Bears head coach Ben Johnson put it, “EPA in the passing game is really one of the most critical factors in determining wins and losses.”
In that case, you may be wondering how Love and Golden’s connection was more efficient than Dak Prescott to George Pickens, Matthew Stafford to Puka Nacua, and Sam Darnold to Jaxon Smith-Njigba.
Golden played just over half of the offensive snaps and finished tied for fourth in targets despite being the team’s first receiver drafted in the first round in over two decades. However, he still made the most of his opportunities, catching 31 out of 41 targets (75.6%) for 425 yards and a touchdown. 19 of Golden’s grabs resulted in first downs, and the rookie also didn’t record a single drop.
Meanwhile, the strength of Love and Kraft’s connection is less surprising. Kraft was having a breakout season before tearing his ACL in Week 9.
Before getting hurt, Kraft led all tight ends in yards per catch (15.3) and yards after catch (344). He also caught 72.7 percent of his 44 targets, with 22 of them picking up a first down. Per PFF, Love registered a new perfect passer rating of 157.2 when throwing to Kraft, including six touchdowns and no interceptions.
It’s also worth noting that Love’s connection with Christian Watson finished 9th on the list in EPA per play.
With a larger role mapped out for Golden, a healthy Kraft returning, and potentially getting a full season out of Watson, it’s hard not to get excited about what Love can do within the Packers’ offense this season.
Long gone are the days when Green Bay’s passing game relied heavily on Davante Adams. The Packers are loaded with weapons (we didn’t even discuss Jayden Reed). It feels like the only thing that could hold this offense back in 2026 is injuries.
