Pregnant Carli Lloyd Fires Back at Troll Commenting on Her Appearance During World Cup Coverage

Carli Lloyd is clapping back after a social media user disparaged her appearance.

The online interaction happened after the Fox Sports World Cup co-host — who is currently expecting her second child with husband Brian Hollins — made a comment in a post on X regarding the U.S. team, who lost their round of 16 match against Belgium, 4-1, on Monday night.

“You rest when your playing career is over,” Lloyd, 43, wrote. ”Period.”

In the comments, an X user wrote: “Looks like youve been resting really good lately big mama.”

All of which had Lloyd — who is known for her outspoken perspective as a World Cup broadcaster — fully engaged.

“I can tell you are a gentleman,” she wrote. “Do you always disrespect women? Does it make you feel good hiding behind your keyboard?”

Shortly after the USMNT dropped the match on Monday, the two-time Olympic gold medalist aired her grievances about their effort.

“It’s a bit of a downer for us being out here now after this loss, but I felt like they lost the game before they even stepped out onto the pitch,” Lloyd said following the game. “I’m not sure why, and I don’t know the reasons, but just from the beginning, just chasing, tentative, scared, just not confident on the ball. And I think big-time players — you wanted some of those big-time players to step up in big moments.”

In particular, Lloyd called out star winger Christian Pulisic’s play.

“I gotta be honest, I was a bit disappointed with Christian Pulisic,” she continued. “I think whether he wants to be the star of this team or not, we didn’t see enough from him in this particular game and really the whole World Cup. Little glimpses here and there.”

In an exclusive interview with PEOPLE ahead of the World Cup, Lloyd shared a little glimpse about what her pregnancy experience this go-round has been like.

“This is a little bit different being pregnant while also having a toddler [daughter Harper, 20 months], so it’s very exhausting, to say the least, but worth every bit of it,” Lloyd, who is due in September, said. “We’re really excited!”
