Premier Boxing Champions, DAZN announce multi-year broadcasting agreement
Al Haymon's Premier Boxing Champions and DAZN announced a multi-year broadcast agreement Thursday that will see PBC events for the next few years air on DAZN.
The deal begins July 25 with Errol Spence vs. Tim Tszyu, which will air on Prime Video pay-per-view, DAZN pay-per-view and DAZN Ultimate. PBC also announced this week a welterweight title matchup between two-division champions Rolando "Rolly" Romero and Teofimo Lopez for Aug. 22, which is set to be shown by the same three platforms.
PBC is expected to stage events in September, October and November that will be broadcast on DAZN. Uncrowned's No. 3 pound-for-pound boxer, David Benavidez, WBC super welterweight champion Sebastian Fundora and former WBA super lightweight champion Isaac "Pitbull" Cruz are among those expected to feature in these events.
PBC becomes the latest entity to join DAZN, which is home to most of the major promoters on both sides of the Atlantic, including Eddie Hearn's Matchroom, Bob Arum's Top Rank, Frank Warren's Queensberry, Oscar De La Hoya's Golden Boy, Kalle Sauerland's MF Pro and Ben Shalom's BOXXER.
The only major promoters not currently aligned with DAZN are Dana White's Zuffa Boxing, which has agreements with Paramount in the US and Sky Sports in the UK, and Jake Paul's Most Valuable Promotions — the dominant force in women's boxing — which shows its fights on ESPN stateside and Sky Sports across the pond.
PBC has been in limbo since Showtime Sports shut down at the conclusion of 2023. Although it’s continued to stage a handful of events on Prime Video annually, most have been pay-per-views. Industry sources believe Amazon's rights fee has not been large enough to support a more robust schedule outside pay-per-view.
Thursday's announcement is expected to allow PBC to increase its event schedule, while further strengthening DAZN's dominant position in the boxing broadcast landscape.
