Earlier today, Real Madrid and Florentino Perez took a major step towards their dream signing of the summer – Michael Olise.

While the operation itself has not begun and still remains complicated, the player has reportedly opened up about his desire to leave Bayern Munich to his compatriots and is said to be obsessed with the idea of joining Real Madrid.

Los Blancos have been informed of the development and are working to launch an offer after the ongoing FIFA World Cup, but Bayern Munich will not make it easy for them.

A gargantuan fee

As reported by Diario AS in a recent report, Bayern Munich now understand that they have a problem with Olise and that they will have to allow the player to leave if he persists in maintaining his stand.

In any case, the Bavarians will not let the player leave for any token fee and are expecting a massive payout for Olise if he signs for Real Madrid. Previous reports placed the figure to be in excess of €200 million.

The Spanish outlet now confirms that Olise’s cost will be even higher and will have to revolve around, or exceed, the fee PSG paid to sign Neymar Jr. from Barcelona.

That move, to date, remains the most expensive transfer in the history of football, and the sum involved was a whopping €222 million.

Real Madrid will likely have to break that record and make Olise the costliest transfer in history to sign him this summer.

If reports from earlier in the week are to be believed, Real Madrid are ready to shell out a sum of €200 million for the player. If anything, that makes it clear how much the president wants Olise for next season.

The club’s current record transfer is Jude Bellingham who arrived for a fee of €127 million, and should this move go through, Olise will overtake the Englishman as the costliest transfer in Real Madrid history by over €100 million.

While nothing has been said yet on the topic, Los Blancos will likely require at least one massive exit to make space for Olise and there is talk of Vinicius Jr. being the candidate sacrificed.

The Brazilian’s campaign at the World Cup was indeed impressive, but negotiations stalling over his renewal leave the club vulnerable at risk of losing him for free next summer.

A sale, thus, remains an option that can directly help Olise’s transfer.
