Report: Newcastle to sign Swiss star Manzambi for €60m from Freiburg
Freiburg are set to receive a club record fee of a reported €60 million ($68.5 million) from Newcastle United for the transfer of young Switzerland star Johan Manzambi.
Sky TV said on Thursday that Newcastle and Freiburg have reached an agreement on the deal and that the Magpies are working on the final details with Manzambi's side.
There has so far been no official confirmation.
The 20-year-old has been at Freiburg since 2023 and has lately made big waves at the World Cup with three goals and two assists.
He missed the last 16 victory over Colombia due to injury and it is not clear yet whether he will be fit to return for Saturday's quarter-final against defending champions Argentina.
Freiburg's biggest transfer so far was the sale of Kevin Schade to Brentford in 2023 for a reported €25 million.
