Report: Stuttgart targeting attacking double swoop with Pejčinović and Sauer
VfB Stuttgart are reportedly preparing moves for VfL Wolfsburg striker Dženan Pejčinović and Feyenoord winger Leo Sauer as they look to bolster their attacking options ahead of the new season.
According to BILD, both players have been identified as priority targets, although completing deals for either will require a significant financial outlay.
The report adds that Stuttgart’s supervisory board has already approved the necessary transfer budget, provided the club can first generate substantial funds through player sales.
Stuttgart are understood to be the most advanced in their pursuit of Pejčinović. The club is expected to submit an improved offer worth €22 million in the coming days, although Wolfsburg are reportedly holding out for €25 million. Personal terms are not expected to be an issue, with Stuttgart said to have already reached an agreement with the 21-year-old on a contract running until 2030.
The situation surrounding Sauer is less advanced. The 20-year-old Slovak international has reportedly already agreed personal terms with TSG Hoffenheim and is also attracting interest from Benfica.
While earlier reports suggested a transfer fee of around €7 million, BILD now claims Feyenoord could demand as much as €10 million for the winger, who has already earned 11 senior caps for Slovakia.
With Stuttgart preparing for a return to Champions League football, the club appears determined to strengthen its attacking depth, although any further arrivals are likely to depend on outgoing transfers first.
