Rice unveils new Nike uniforms for 2026
On July 1, 2026, six FBS programs switched outfitters.
The Rice Owls were included in that list, as they officially swapped out their Adidas gear in favor of Nike. Adidas was the official outfitter of Rice from 2012-25, but the Swoosh is back on the Owls’ uniforms for the first time since 2011.
To usher in the Nike era, Rice unveiled new uniforms for the 2026 season, although the only combination revealed in a promotional video was the blue helmet-blue jersey-blue pants look. Uniform models in the video include quarterback Gael Ochoa (4), slot Davis Lane (5), wide receiver Braylen Walker (81), center Nate Bledsoe (56), offensive tackle Luke Miller (53), and inside linebacker Jesus Machado Jr. (99).
This represents Rice’s first uniform change since 2024. The Owls’ previous Adidas set only lasted two years. For comparison purposes, here is Rice’s all-blue combo from 2024-25:
And here’s a still shot of Rice’s all-blue combo for 2026:

What changed? There’s a new stylization in the number font. The font deviates more from the traditional block number font and mimics the numbers utilized on Rice’s practice uniforms. Also, the gray-white-gray sleeve stripes are now shoulder stripes, and the numbers relocate from the shoulder to the sleeve. Lastly, the size of gray ‘RICE’ across the chest slightly shrinks but remains in the same font.
Other than that, the 2026 Nike uniform is quite similar to the 2025 Adidas uniform. The pants are still monocolor with the Old English R above the right hip. The Old English R helmet is retained with a gray facemask and head coach Scott Abell’s “WE” mantra (win everything, win everywhere and with everyone) on the front bumper.
Rice will debut its new Nike uniforms at home Saturday, Sept. 5 when it hosts Houston Christian of the FCS. A different combination — yet to be revealed — will likely be worn on the road for their Week 2 road matchup at Notre Dame.
