Scotland upset Wales for first win of Commonwealths
Scotland bounced back from defeat to New Zealand with a 56-47 win over Wales at The Hydro in Glasgow.
The hosts started brightly as they raced into a 16-8 first quarter lead.
A better second quarter for the visitors saw Wales reduce the deficit to just two goals before Scotland rallied to a 28-21 half-time lead.
Emma Barrie's dominant shooting saw Scotland take a ten-goal advantage into the final quarter.
Niamh McCall, a teammate of nine of the Welsh team at Superleague side Dragons caused constant problems with her shooting from distance.
Wales gave away too many contact penalties throughout the game to cut into the lead.
Scotland held firm to secure their first win of the Games.
They face 12th ranked Trinidad and Tobago in their next match on Monday night.
Wales will play the same opponents on Tuesday as they seek their first win in Glasgow.
