Slot values for four Texas A&M MLB Draft selections revealed
Texas A&M's 2026 season ended at the hands of USC in the College Station Regional, which wasn't shocking given the Aggies' pitching issues, leading to second-year coach Michael Earley firing pitching coach Jason Kelley after the rotation finished with a 5.24 team ERA, including junior LHP Shane Sdao's 7.03 ERA, and 16 home runs allowed.
At the plate, Texas A&M's top three hitters, Caden Sorrell, Gavin Grahovac, and Maryland transfer Chris Hacopian, served as offensive catalysts and entered the offseason as top-ranked MLB Draft prospects, with Hacopian predicted to go high in the first round. Despite his injury issues, which sidelined him for several games early in the year, Hacopian was selected 11th overall by the Washington Nationals on Saturday afternoon.
One round later, Caden Sorrell went off the board with the 62nd overall pick by the Chicago Cubs, while Gavin Grahovac, who, after missing the entire 2025 season, bounced back in 2026, slashing .339/.429/.722 with 22 home runs, which was second on the team behind Sorrell's 23 homers.
Lastly, Sdao's 2026 struggles did not hinder his MLB potential, knowing that the right coaching staff will be able to rein in his control issues, but the arm talent is there, and despite finishing with the highest ERA on the team, Sdao was selected 120th overall in the fourth round by the New York Mets, and is nearly guaranteed to sign his deal, and begin his journey in the minor leagues.
Financially, Hacopian, Sorrell, and Grahovac are all expected to cash in early given their slot values, while Sdao will make less, but is still in a good spot.
- Chris Hacopian — $6,133,500
- Caden Sorrell — $1,487,200
- Gavin Grahovac — $1,018,500
- Shane Sdao — $645.10k
It was expected that all four players would depart, while Shane Sdao potentially returning was more of a pipe dream than rooted in reality. After landing seven pitchers from the transfer portal, Texas A&M's 2027 pitching rotation is in great shape, especially if Weston Moss returns.
