Stefon Diggs could not even crack the Cowboys' top two at receiver

Following his release from the New England Patriots, which was reportedly a cap-saving move that came right after Super Bowl LX loss to the Seattle Seahawks, Stefon Diggs remains unsigned with training camps just two weeks away.
New England completely dismantled the wide receiver room around young quarterback Drake Maye, moving on from Diggs after his season ended with a quiet three-catch performance in the championship game.
Instead of waiting silently, the 32-year-old dynamic wideout told the league he is still elite. He argued that even if a team already has a true No. 1 wideout, nobody can “name a better No. 2 receiver than him.”
He backed it up by pointing to his age-32 production: 85 catches, 1,013 yards and four touchdowns as New England's clear top target.
But the Dallas Cowboys' roster completely breaks that theory. Even if Diggs wanted to come to Dallas, he would not even crack their top two depth chart. CeeDee Lamb is still the clear alpha, even though he missed three games last year.
Meanwhile, George Pickens absolutely exploded for career highs across the board, racking up 93 receptions for 1,429 yards and nine touchdowns to make his first Pro Bowl. He is sitting out in a contract standoff with the Cowboys while on the franchise tag, and his leverage alone shows how much more valuable his recent production is compared to Diggs.
Plus, with Lamb still putting up 1,077 yards in limited action, Diggs' claim of being the league's best second option simply does not seem valid.
While Diggs' resume and route-running keep him linked to teams like the Los Angeles Chargers, New York Giants, Washington Commanders, or even a Buffalo Bills reunion, if the argument is who owns the WR2 throne, Dallas has an answer sitting right in front of him.
