Kelsey Mitchell's outstanding stretch of basketball has been impossible to ignore, and on Tuesday the Indiana Fever made sure the entire team celebrated her latest accomplishment together. During practice, head coach Stephanie White gathered the Fever before delivering some well-earned news. Mitchell had officially been named the WNBA's Eastern Conference Player of the Week after leading Indiana through another impressive stretch of games.

The announcement sparked an enthusiastic reaction from Mitchell's teammates, who erupted in cheers after White revealed the honor. It was another moment recognizing a player who has been at the center of Indiana's recent surge up the WNBA standings. Mitchell has been one of the league's hottest scorers over the past two weeks, helping the Fever win four of their last five games while putting together one of the best offensive stretches of her career.

Stephanie White announces Kelsey Mitchell's latest honor

The Fever shared video from practice on social media showing White addressing the team before making the announcement.

"We got an announcement to make," White told the group. "Kelsey Mitchell, Player of the Week."

The room immediately broke into applause as Mitchell smiled while accepting congratulations from her teammates. The award marked Mitchell's first Eastern Conference Player of the Week honor of the 2026 season and the fifth of her WNBA career. She joined Caitlin Clark, who earned the honor earlier this season, as the second Fever player to receive the weekly award this year.

Mitchell is now tied with franchise legend Tamika Catchings for the second-most Player of the Week honors in Fever history. Catchings still owns the franchise record with 22 weekly awards.

Mitchell has fueled Indiana's recent success

The recognition comes after an incredible scoring run from the veteran guard. Mitchell has led Indiana in scoring in each of its last six games while averaging a league-best 28.0 points per game over the past week. She also became just the third player in WNBA history to record six consecutive games with at least 25 points.

During the Fever's 109-75 victory over the Las Vegas Aces, Mitchell added another milestone by passing Catchings for the longest streak of consecutive double-digit scoring games in franchise history. Her consistent production has helped transform Indiana into one of the WNBA's hottest teams heading into the All-Star break, with the Fever winning four of their last five contests.

Indiana will look to keep that momentum going Wednesday night when it hosts the Golden State Valkyries at Gainbridge Fieldhouse. If Mitchell continues playing at her current level, the Fever will enter the All-Star break with even more confidence as they continue their push toward the postseason.
