Texas A&M HC Bucky McMillan speaks after 76-70 home loss to Texas

Texas A&M (19-10, 9-7 SEC) has not looked like the team we witnessed during the Aggies' 7-1 star in SEC play, now losing six of their last eight games, including back-to-back losses to Arkansas on the road, and rival Texas at home on Saturday afternoon in what looked like a "must-win" game for both teams to keep their NCAA Tournament hopes alive.

On paper, Texas A&M likely needs to defeat Kentucky at home and LSU on the road to feel safe heading into the NCAA Tournament, but that's quite the ask, and after shooting 38% from the field and hitting just two three pointers against the Longhorns, this team does not look equipped to beat a Kentucky team that just demolished No. 25 Vanderbilt 91-77 at home.

At the very least, if the Aggies can earn a road win over LSU, at least two wins in the SEC Tournament *should be enough to earn an at-large bid, but nothing is guaranteed, and Texas A&M is trending down heading into the final week of the regular season. It's pretty simple: the Aggies won't win anymore games this season if they hit less than ten or more threes, and shoot less that 45% from the field.

Texas A&M played better defense on Saturday, but Texas hit more clutch shots, and where the Aggies really lost the game was at the rim, finishing 11-23 at the rim, while senior forward Rashaun Agee (22 points) and senior guard Marcus Hill (17 points), were the only players to finish in double digits.

After the 76-70 loss, first-year head coach Bucky McMillan didn't mince words, stating that Texas's deep guard rotation made enough clutch shots at the end of the game when it mattered most, while the Aggies failed to capitalize.

"They played well. They stepped up and made tough shots late, we didn't. We're both tournament level teams, but it's a play here and there, and their guards made those plays late. Going forward, we have to get to the next game."

While losing on senior day is never fun, the Aggie faithful filled Reed Arena to the rafters and tried to help their team secure what would have been a massive victory. All the Aggies can do is move on to the next game, knowing that their postseason hopes other than a bid to the NIT continue to be on the line.

"Nobody wanted this one more than me and these players. I appreciate our fanbase for rallying around this group and our seniors. We came here with nobody on the roster, and I want to thank everybody who stayed for their senior night."

Texas A&M will host Kentucky on Tuesday at 6:00 p.m. CT, airing on ESPN2.
