The Mac Speaks: ‘We’ll Be Back!‘

Don’t give up hope on Conor McGregor just yet.

For the first time since his disastrous UFC 329 leg injury (not the broken leg from five years ago) suffered versus Max Holloway, McGregor has gotten in front of a camera and addressed fans directly. On his 38th birthday, McGregor shares a sip of his energy drink with his wife before turning the camera on himself and promising fight fans that his career isn’t over yet.

“We’ll be back,” McGregor claims. “In the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. Amen. Let’s go.”

McGregor has already tweeted about his plan to return to action, but it’s nice to see McGregor on camera, looking reasonably healthy. So far, there has been no update on McGregor’s specific injury or whether surgical intervention will be necessary. However, Dr. Brian Sutterer posted his thoughts on the available footage and what it likely means for McGregor’s injury.

“Lack of a brace (assuming he didn’t just take it off for the video) means no high grade collateral ligament injury (MCL/LCL),” Sutterer wrote on X. “Means nothing about ACL and meniscus. Range of motion being at least 90 [degrees] of flexion and looking relatively comfortable is good.”

McGregor’s best bet for a quick return would likely be a meniscus injury, which could see him on track for his planned April 2027 schedule. Unfortunately, if McGregor has indeed torn his ACL for the second time, at least a year should be expected before his UFC return.
