‘The ref can’t miss that’: Caitlin Clark does not hold back on ‘ridiculous’ referees after loss

Indiana Fever superstar Caitlin Clark was seen screaming directly into the face of an official during Wednesday night’s loss to the Golden State Valkyries, and she was still quite fired up about the officiating after the game, as well.

During her postgame press conference, Clark did not hold back as she called out the referees for what she believed was a “ridiculous” missed call in the second quarter of the game.

Clark Screams at Referees

During the second quarter of Wednesday night’s game, Clark drove to the basket and attempted a layup, where she was met by Valkyries center Kiah Stokes. Stokes appeared to make contact with Clark’s arm, causing the Fever star to fall to the ground, but the officials let play continue without calling a foul.

Clark got up limping on the play and was clearly frustrated as she got back on defense. When play was stopped moments later, she was not shy about expressing her displeasure directly to the officials.

The Fever superstar flung her arms into the air in frustration, walked toward one of the referees, and screamed directly into their face. Although the broadcast did not capture exactly what was said, her frustration certainly came through.

‘The ref can’t miss that’

After the game, Clark was asked about the play and the heated interaction with the official, and she did not hold back her true thoughts or shy away from criticizing the officials.

“I got kneed right in the quad. That hurts. The ref can’t miss that,” Clark said. “Then I had to play with a contusion in my leg the rest of the game. It was ridiculous. You can’t miss calls like that.”

Clark said that during her heated exchange with the official, the referee told her that she initiated the contact, so there was no foul call. Still, Clark was not happy.

“You can’t knee me in the leg and knock me over,” she said.
