Three takeaways from LSU baseball's win over Creighton

LSU baseball is finally back in the win column, beating Creighton on Tuesday night. After being down 4-1 heading into the fourth inning, some fans feared we were going to get a replay of the same LSU team that we had watched lose four out of its last five games. But this time was different and the Tigers found a way to fight back.

LSU catcher Omar Serna Jr. hit a grand slam in the bottom of the fifth inning to give the Tigers a 6-2 lead. Jake Brown would add onto that with a two-run shot in the bottom of the eighth to extend the lead to 8-4. Creighton was unable to come back from that deficit.

This was LSU's final tune-up before conference play begins this weekend. Plenty of questions remain about this LSU squad, but its good to head to Nashville on a high note.

Steven Milam is NOT overrated

LSU baseball "Twitter" was thrown into a tizzy earlier this week when a clip of a podcast was released that claimed Steven Milam was the most overrated player in college baseball. Sure, their clip got a ton of engagement, but that take may be worse than most takes that Skip Bayless comes up with.

Monster Milam had an RBI single in the bottom of the first inning to put the Tigers on the board and then made an incredible diving catch in the top of the second inning to prevent Creighton from scoring more runs. Put some respect on Milam's name. He may be in a bit of a slump, but he is still one of the BEST players in college baseball.

Chris Stanfield returns!

After being out since the second game of the year, Chris Stanfield made his return to the diamond as he pinch ran for Tanner Reaves in the bottom of the fifth inning and then played in left field for the rest of the game. I am excited that he is back on the field and in the lineup because I think this is the shot in the arm that the team needs moving forward.

The homer that flipped the script

Omar Serna Jr. hit a grand slam in the bottom of the fifth inning to put the Tigers in the lead 6-2, and after that, the LSU bullpen shut Creighton out to secure the win for the Tigers. Serna finished the night 1-for-3 but he made his one hit count.
