Troy Walson commits to UConn football
On Tuesday, tight end and defensive lineman Troy Walson announced on X that he will continue his football career at UConn this fall. Alongside Connecticut, the Fordham Rams and Virginia Military Institute scouted the versatile player.
In Walson’s final year with Bruton High School in Williamsburg, Virginia, he participated in 10 games, hauling in seven receptions for 121 yards, just over 17 yards per catch. As a junior, he registered 13 catches for 200 receiving yards in 12 games and notched an 18-yard touchdown. As of now, Walson’s primary position is at tight end, but he is not new to taking snaps defensively.
In 10 appearances, Walson racked up 23 total tackles (9 solo, 12 assisted) and recovered a fumble as a defensive lineman. Heading into this fall, he’ll be focused on developing with the Huskies.
Watson also played basketball for the Panthers. In 19 games his senior year, the future Husky contributed 4.9 points, 4.1 rebounds, and 0.3 assists per outing.
