UNC football announces start date for Fall camp
North Carolina has designated July 30 as the official start of year two under Bill Belichick, when the Tar Heels will report to preseason camp.
The camp opening in 17 days will allow UNC 25 practices under current NCAA rules, beginning with a mandatory seven-day acclimatization period that limits contact before full-speed activities can commence.
Coming off a 4–8 first season with Belichick, North Carolina is relying on a reshaped roster to alter its trajectory. The Tar Heels have added transfer quarterbacks Billy Edwards Jr. and Miles O’Neill, hired veteran play-caller Bobby Petrino as offensive coordinator, and signed the largest incoming freshman class in program history, while still counting on returning standouts such as Jordan Shipp and Melkart Abou-Jaoude.
"The big difference between this year and last year, for me, is that we have our team now,” Belichick said during spring practice in March. “And I think we have a lot of good leadership coming back from the guys that were with us last year."
The Tar Heels will face TCU on Aug. 29 in Dublin, Ireland.
