USC opposing player scouting report - Jeremiah McClellan, Oregon Ducks
The USC defense will have its hands full against the Oregon offense this season. Jeremiah McClellan is one reason why. Ducks Wire looked at the UO receiver:
"In his two years on the roster, McClellan has played in 18 games, catching 41 passes for 581 yards and three touchdowns. However, he's put up a career's worth of highlight-reel catches during that time, many of which have circulated far and wide on social media for their impossible nature.
"Whether it was the "helmet catch" against the Washington Huskies last year that didn't count, a toe-tap touchdown against the Minnesota Golden Gophers, a falling-down touchdown against James Madison, or an impossible 50-50 ball in the College Football Playoff against the Indiana Hoosiers, McClellan has made a name for himself going into his second year as a starter with the Ducks. When asked about his knack for making the impossible look easy, McClellan put it rather simply: 'I would rather die than drop the ball.'
"When you put it that way, then sure, I suppose the former 4-star recruit has little choice in the matter. That has helped to fuel his process, which includes setting up the Monarc JUGS machine at extravagant angles to make for difficult catches, and spending his time waiting for flights in the airport working on his craft.
"'He's someone that makes insane catches,' Oregon QB Dante Moore said. 'Of course, it translates to the game. But overall, even today, multiple catches, I was just like, wow, how do you even do that? But it's kind of just, he's been putting the work in, and when you put the work in, it shows.'"
