Our All-Scholastic teams for high school spring sports are in the works.

We need your help before they publish. As we've done in the fall and winter seasons, our readers will have a say in who wins player of the year honors in each sport. The list of South Shore boys volleyball talent has been trimmed down to an even more exclusive, best-of-the-best bunch.

Vote below for the Patriot Ledger/Brockton Enterprise High School Boys Volleyball Player of the Year. Reader votes will make up 20% of the tally, with our four staff reporters (Chris McDaniel, Eric McHugh, Ryan Vermette and Jason Snow) making up the rest of the vote.

Voting closes Friday, July 10.

Jake Basan, Quincy

Senior libero/outside hitter was named MVP of the Big South Patriot League. ... First-year libero led the team in digs (187) and receptions (373). ... Served at a 90% rate with 35 aces. ... Led Quincy (16-6) to the No. 32 seed in the Division 1 state tournament. ... Said coach Jacqui Niosi, "Jake has been a leader since he walked in the doors of QHS. That impact, along with his selflessness, was highlighted on the volleyball court this season."

Ben Cleary, BC High

Senior outside hitter missed 11 matches due to injury/illness and still led BC High in kills (167; 4.6 per set). ... Guided the Eagles (10-11) to the No. 35 seed in the Division 1 tournament. ... Last year's Patriot Ledger Player of the Year. ... Boasted a hitting efficiency of 0.238. ... Had 113 digs (3.1 per set) on the campaign. ... Played 36 sets this season. ... Said coach James Chen, "He was a huge part of our team even when not playing and helped lead our team to a playoff spot when he came back with four matches left in the regular season."

Oscar Cordner, Weymouth

6-6 senior middle blocker led the Wildcats in kill percentage (55), hitting percentage (48) and blocks (125) in 19 matches. ... Two-year starter concluded his career with 350 kills and 260 blocks in 41 matches. ... Led Weymouth to an 11-8 record and the No. 17 seed in the Division 1 state tournament. ... Coach Bill McEachern said Cordner has "a presence and can be intimidating for opponents attempting to hit against him."

Jack Goddeeris, Braintree

Senior outside/middle hitter was named a Bay State Conference First-Team All-Star. ... Broke school record for blocks. ... Led the Wamps in kills and blocks this season as team finished 11-10 with the No. 21 seed in Division 1. ... Four-year varsity player. ... Committed to play at Emmanuel College. ... Led Braintree to a pair of Bay State Hergert Division championships in his career. ... Coach Roberta Stannard described him as "Energetic and passionate.  Eats and breathes volleyball."

Asher Meyers-Light, Milton

Senior setter was named a Bay State Conference All-Star, serving at a 95% clip with 26 aces. ... Made 575 assists, 28 blocks and 160 digs this season. ... Mass. Volleyball Coaches Association All-Star. ... Finished as a 90% server for his career. ... Led Milton to a 13-8 record and the No. 24 seed in the Division 1 state tournament. ... Coach Chris Chin said he was "instrumental in growing the program since starting four years ago," adding, "Asher, in the hardest position, continued to make everyone around him better, all while making us the best we can be."

Hilson Okocha, Brockton

Senior outside hitter collected 184 kills on the season on a hitting efficiency rate of .246. ... All-Star in the Big Patriot League. ... Totaled 106 defensive digs, 19 blocks, 133 service receptions. ... Led Brockton to a 13-8 record and the No. 39 seed in the Division 1 state tournament. ... Finished with 217 career kills in two seasons.

Brian Zheng, North Quincy

Senior setter collected 233 assists and a team-best 31 aces this season. ... Big South Patriot League All-Star led the Raiders to a 17-5 record and a Division 1 state tournament victory over Doherty Memorial as the No. 28 seed. ... Said coach Megan Johnston, "Brian was a leader and an impact player. He worked hard to run our offense and keep our energy positive and competitive. He was crucial in high pressure situations."
