Warriors locked in for No. 10 seed in play-in tournament

For the last several weeks, the Golden State Warriors knew they'd have to go through the play-in tournament to secure a spot in the NBA's postseason dance. Yet, where they'd land in the play-in tournament has been a focus for the stretch run of the regular-season.

On Tuesday night, the Warriors' seed in the play-in tournament became sealed. With the Los Angeles Clippers win over the Dallas Mavericks, the Warriors officially became the play-in tournament's No. 10 seed, meaning Golden State will have to win a pair of games on the road to secure the No. 8 seed in the Western Conference postseason.

The Warriors are still waiting on who they will play in the play-in tournament's opening game. The Warriors will either play the Los Angeles Clippers or the Portland Trail Blazers in the No. 9 vs. No. 10 game. The Warriors could also play the No. 7 seed Phoenix Suns in the second game of the play-in tournament, depending on how the first round of games shakes out. The Warriors will need to win their first play-in matchup or their season will come to an end.

2026 will be the Warriors' fourth appearance in the play-in tournament since the tournament debuted in 2020. 2026 will be their third straight appearance in the playin. In 2025, the No. 7 seed Warriors eliminated the Memphis Grizzlies in the play-in before knocking out the No. 2 seed Houston Rockets in the playoffs.

The play-in tournament is set to begin on Tuesday, April 14.
