The Washington Huskies men's basketball team is attempting to have better success with the 2027 recruiting class than it did with the 2026 graduates.

The Huskies were able to land just one commit from the Class of '26, three-star small forward Lattimore Ford.

UW has been attempting to make a push for several of the best players in the graduating 2027 class, and is set to host one of the best power forwards.

Five-star power forward Ahmed Nur, will be making an official visit to Montlake from Sept. 6-8.

The official visit will mark a series of trips for the 6-foot-10 frontcourt player. He's set to visit Ole Miss from Aug. 22-24 and the Syracuse Orange from Aug. 28-30.

Nur has already made an official visit to the Purdue Boilermakers. He's ranked as the 24th-best overall player, fourth-best power forward and fifth-best player in Arizona per the 247Sports composite.

Currently, it seems like Nur is still keeping all of his options open when it comes to the team courting him.

Currently, 247Sports lists Ole Miss as the only team Nur is "warm" on. On3 Sports has Purdue with the likeliest odds to land him at 25.5%, Ole Miss with the second-best odds at 22.4%, Syracuse as his third-likeliest landing spot at 19.2% and Washington with the fourth-best odds at 16%.

Aside from the Class of '26, the Huskies have had general success since Danny Sprinkle took over at the helm of the program ahead of the 2024-25 season.

Ahead of his first season at the head coach, Washington was able to land Tacoma, Wash., native Zoom Diallo. Following this season, his second with the Huskies and under Sprinkle, he transferred to the Kentucky Wildcats.

Ahead of last season, Sprinkle and the rest of the coaching staff also landed a trio of four-stars and top-104 players, guards JJ Mandaquit, Courtland Muldrew and forward Jasir Rencher.

Mandaquit transferred to the Arizona Wildcats this offseason and Muldrew transferred to the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets. Rencher will be returning to the team this season, but is coming off a season-ending heart condition he underwent a procedure for.

Rencher appears ready and is actively competing in practice for the '26-27 season.

Sprinkle and the rest of the coaching staff made up for the lack of grading players from the Class of '26 with a series of international recruits. Currently, three of the Huskies' 14 players committed to the roster are international. There's one more player who UW could land, Slovenian guard Urban Kroflic, this offseason.

Washington has built a consistent multi-national recruiting pipeline over the last year under Sprinkle, but a better showing in the 2027 recruiting cycle will result in the team not having to rely on the international recruits in the future.
