The Philadelphia 76ers are looking to make a big move up the Eastern Conference ladder after the moves they made in the offseason. The Sixers have been aggressive with the additions of Dean Wade, Anfernee Simons, and Ariel Hukporti in free agency while also pulling off a blockbuster deal to acquire Jaylen Brown from the Boston Celtics.

The Sixers now have their eyes on a bigger fish: LeBron James.

As James and his team continue to weigh all options heading into an unprecedented year 24. The future Hall of Famer is one of the top, legendary players in this league, and him joining the Sixers would put them even higher in the championship contender conversation.

ESPN explained what kind of contract the Sixers can offer James:

The 76ers split up their $15 million non-tax midlevel exception into Dean Wade and Anfernee Simons. They then used part of the $5.5 million biannual exception to sign Ariel Hukporti.

As a result of the three signings, Philadelphia has only the $3.9 million veterans exception available.

James averaged 20.9 points, 7.2 assists, and 6.1 rebounds with 1.2 steals while shooting 51.5% from the floor in the 2025-26 season, his final with the Los Angeles Lakers. He is still a productive player and is one of the better players still in the game. There is a lot that he can bring to Philadelphia and one has to believe he is seriously considering the Sixers due to the championship contention status.
