He was a member of the 2019 NBA Draft class but wasn't chosen this year, and he's traveled quite the basketball journey.

Elmore won a 2025 G League championship.

During the 2025-26 season with the Stockton Kings in the G League, Elmore averaged 13.8 points and 6.1 assists per game.

Jon Elmore's legendary college career

Elmore, a kid from West Virginia, didn't immediately play college basketball at Marshall University.

He went to VMI, where his father Gay Elmore had played, but he left school to help care for his struggling grandfather.

Eventually, he joined an intramural team at Marshall, where he caught the eye and was recruited to the varsity team.

Elmore led Marshall to its first NCAA Tournament win ever, scoring 27 points in an upset of Wichita State.

He set Conference USA's all-time record in both scoring and assists, and he was the first player in D-I history to score more than 2,500 points and dish out more than 750 assists.

Elmore spent recent summers playing in The Basketball Tournament, but this time around, he's suiting up for the Lakers.
