Who will be the top boys athlete for 2025-26 in Manitowoc and Sheboygan? Vote here

Starting last August through the WIAA state baseball tournament there were plenty of standout boys athletes across Manitowoc and Sheboygan counties in the 2025-26 school year.

Here is a list of the top 32 boys athletes, in alphabetical order.

I’ll be focusing on the athletes top accomplishments, not necessarily every sport they competed in or accolade they received.

At the bottom of the list will be a poll to choose who you feel was the best of the entire school year.

The poll will be open one week until noon on July 27.

Josh Anzia, jr., Cedar Grove-Belgium

Anzia took fourth at 215 pounds at the WIAA Division 3 state boys wrestling tournament.

Diego Cardenas, jr., Kohler

Cardenas was honorable mention all-state by the Wisconsin Soccer Coaches Association after finishing second in the state with 102 points and his 40 goals were tied for fifth.

Aaron Cortez, sr., Sheboygan North

Cortez was honorable mention all-state by the WSCA for the Golden Raiders boys soccer team.

Sawyer Dailey, sr., Plymouth

Dailey earned a silver medal at 190 at the WIAA Division 2 state wrestling tournament.

Cade Dirkse, sr, Oostburg

Dirkse, the 2025 Lakeshore Elite boys soccer player of the year, tied for 16^th in the state in goals with 31. No goal was more important though than the state-championship winner in double overtime of the Division 4 state title game. He was also honorable mention all-state by the Wisconsin Soccer Coaches Association. In basketball in the winter, Dirkse was first team all-state in Division 3 according to the Wisconsin Basketball Coaches Association. He averaged 17.3 points, 5.2 rebounds and 6.8 assists per game.

Eli Fuerst, sr., Plymouth

Fuerst took fifth in diving at the WIAA Division 2 state meet.

Brennen Hackbarth, sr., Sheboygan Lutheran

Hackbarth was first team all-state in Division 5 by the WBCA, averaging 22 ppg, 8 rpg and 2.1 apg.

Chase Heimerman, sr., Cedar Grove-Belgium

Heimerman took fourth at 113 at the D3 boys wrestling tournament.

Landon Heimerman, so., Cedar Grove-Belgium

Heimerman was fourth at 120 at the D3 state boys wrestling tournament.

Collin Heller, so., Plymouth

Heller won the WIAA Division 2 state title in diving with a score of 422.35.

Ira Hilbelink, jr., Cedar Grove-Belgium

Hilbelink was named the Division 3 baseball player of the year by the Wisconsin Baseball Coaches Association. He was first team all-state as a DH/Utility as well.

Max Matthias, sr., Two Rivers

Matthias placed second at the WIAA Division 2 state wrestling tournament at 215.

Logan Michaels, sr., Random Lake

Michaels was an honorable mention all-state infielder by the WBCA.

Deven Miller, sr., Plymouth

Miller, the 2025 Lakeshore Elite football player of the year, was honorable mention all-state among the large schools by the WFCA as a running back. He ran for over 1,600 yards with 27 touchdowns en route to being named the ECC Offensive Player of the Year. He also had 80 total tackles and 10 tackles for loss and was the ECC Linebacker of the Year as well.

Dane Moore, so., Mishicot

Moore placed tied for third at the WIAA Division 3 boys golf tournament, shooting a 150 over the two-day tournament.

Elliott Onesti, jr., Roncalli

Onesti placed 10^th in the WIAA Division 3 state cross country meet with a time of 16 minutes and 43.9 seconds.

Ben Prochnow, sr., Reedsville

Prochnow helped guide the Panthers to the WIAA Division 5 state championship, earning first team all-state in the division by the WBCA. The 2025-26 Lakeshore Elite boys basketball player of the year, Prochnow led the state with 10.8 apg while also averaging 21.2 ppg.

Seth Race, sr., Cedar Grove-Belgium

Race earned a silver medal at 175 at the D3 state boys wrestling tournament.

Liam Richards, jr., Oostburg

Richards was the state champion in D3 at 165 at the boys state wrestling tournament.

Owen Schacht, jr., Mishicot

Schacht ended his junior wrestling season as the state champion at 190 in D3. He was the 2025-26 Lakeshore Elite boys wrestler of the year.

Logan Schad, jr., Kiel

Schad took second at 132 to leave the WIAA Division 2 state wrestling tournament with a silver medal.

Sterling Schanen, fr., Ozaukee

Schanen finished fifth at the WIAA D3 boys wrestling tournament at 106.

Caleb Schreiber, jr., Random Lake

Schreiber took sixth at 120 in D3 at the boys state wrestling tournament.

Trenton Schuettpelz, sr., Manitowoc Lutheran

Schuettpelz took fifth in the triple jump at the WIAA Division 3 boys track and field meet with a distance of 44 feet.

Kayden Schultz, sr., Plymouth

Schultz, the all-time leading scorer in Plymouth history and a 2,000-point scorer, was first team all-Division 2 after averaging 26.8 ppg, 6.5 rpg and 3.7 apg. He was also a semifinalist for the WBCA Mr. Basketball award.

Odin Schulz, sr., Howards Grove

Schulz placed fourth in Division 3 at the WIAA boys state track and field meet in the 400 (49.08).

David Van Dixhorn, so., Kohler

Van Dixhorn was the individual WIAA Division 3 boys golf state champion, shooting a two-day score of 145. He also helped the Blue Bombers win the state team championship as well.

David Venegas, sr., Sheboygan South

Venegas finished fifth in the 400 (48.55) at the WIAA D1 state track and field meet.

Tristen Verbeten, sr., Reedsville

Verbeten capped his senior wrestling season by taking sixth at 165 in D3.

Carsen Voskuil, sr., Cedar Grove-Belgium

Voskuil finished fourth at the D3 boys state wrestling tournament at 138.

Jamison Zavatchin, sr., Oostburg

Zavatchin had a year to remember for the Flying Dutchmen in boys basketball, becoming a 2,000-point scorer and the program’s all-time leading scorer. He was first team all-state in Division 3 by the WBCA and was also a Mr. Basketball semifinalist after averaging 27.9 ppg, 5.6 rpg and 2.1 apg.
