Spain has emerged as the World Cup champion, but the excitement extended far beyond the games, with fans in San Diego passionately watching from local bars and restaurants. In Chula Vista, Third Avenue became a lively hub for soccer enthusiasts, celebrating every moment of the tournament.

“It means everything, man, especially for the community, especially for Chula Vista... everybody comes together, the culture man, Mexico, especially with Mexico, everybody, jam-packed everything you can see the culture all the culture come by from Argentina, España, Mexico, everybody pulling up for Third Avenue just showing out to everybody all the culture,” Rafael Padilla said.

During the World Cup, spots like Balboa South were packed, drawing the community together to cheer on their teams.

Mariana Cardenas, the owner of the bar & grill, noted an increase in sales and a welcoming surge of new customers, many of whom have returned since.

“It had an amazing boost; the sales were really, really good [...] what mattered to us is people that had never visited us; they were here, and they continued coming,” she said.

Cardenas remarked on the vibrant atmosphere.

“Third Avenue was literally on fire; it was the place to be, it was vibrant, it was full of energy, it was all these people coming together no matter what team you were rooting for,” she said.

The energy was palpable, particularly during Mexico's matches, where local bars and restaurants overflowed with cheering crowds.

“It was always a good time, man; everybody was involved, and everybody is here celebrating no matter who was playing," Eric Raposa said, sharing his enjoyment of the camaraderie.

As the tournament concludes, Cardenas is already looking forward to the next World Cup, anticipating another round of community celebrations in Chula Vista.
