Bills Ex Rejects Contract Offer from Rival Dolphins to Remain Free Agent originally appeared on Athlon Sports.

There had been a brief history of standout Buffalo Bills players signing with the Miami Dolphins in free agency. Hall of Fame running back Thurman Thomas and All-Pro defensive back Jordan Poyer are two examples.

Next, Rasul Douglas? Nope.

The Bills' starting cornerback from last season is still on the free agency market after reportedly turning down a contract offer from the AFC East foes down in South Beach in May.

But Miami Herald's Barry Jackson believes that Douglas could still be an option for the Dolphins.

"The Dolphins have maintained contact with Bills free agent cornerback Rasul Douglas, who rejected a Miami offer in May. He remains a possibility," Jackson said.

Miami is stuck in the mud with their cornerback situation. Things has boiled over with All-Pro Jalen Ramsey, leading the organization to search for a trade partner, but no traction is being made in getting rid of him.

When that deal eventually comes, the Dolphins will be in need of a cover man on the outside. Jaire Alexander was a big-name option, but he was quickly scooped up by the Baltimore Ravens after his release from the Green Bay Packers.

Douglas remains one of the best remaining corners available. He had expressed interest in re-signing with Buffalo, but the front office elected to sign free agents Tre'Davious White and Dane Jackson instead. The team also used it's first-round pick this year on cornerback Maxwell Hairston.

Douglas, the former third-round pick in 2017, has bounced around a bit but has always found himself in the starting lineup. His Bills career got off to a superb start  after a mid-season trade in 2023, but 2024 did not bring the same success.

Someone will pick him up on a team-friendly contract eventually, and if the Dolphins come calling again, Douglas may not be able to afford being picky.
