Darius Garland injury update: Cavs star has toe surgery, will miss 4-5 months

All-Star guard Darius Garland of the Cleveland Cavaliers is expected to be sidelined for four to five months after undergoing surgery on his toe.

The Cavaliersannounced on social media that Garland had a successful procedure June 9 on his big toe and is expected to make a full recovery in time for the start of training camp.

Garland, 25, was named an All-Star for the second time this season after averaging 20.6 points and 6.7 assists per game in helping lead the Cavaliers to the best record in the Eastern Conference.

However, he was limited by the toe ailment during the postseason as the top-seeded Cavs fell to the Indiana Pacers in the Eastern Conference semifinals.

Over his six seasons in the NBA, Garland -- the fifth overall pick in the 2019 draft out of Vanderbilt -- has averaged 18.9 points and 6.7 assists per game.

He was also named an All-Star during the 2021-2022 season.

Cavaliers guard Darius Garland looks to make a move on Pacers forward Aaron Nesmith during Game 3 of 2025 NBA Eastern Conference semifinals in Indianapolis.
