After a 5-3 victory in Omaha over Coastal Carolina, LSU won their eighth baseball National Championship and second title in three years.

As the players celebrated on the field, ABC/ESPN reporters caught up with the tournament’s most outstanding players Kade Anderson and Anthony Eyanson and coach Jay Johnson. Kade was asked what it meant to win the College World Series after dreaming about it his entire life. He said, “Yeah, I mean, I can’t really talk right now. It’s been a pleasure. He [Anthony Eyanson] gave us a chance. That’s all you can ask for. It’s a dream come true.”

Eyanson talked about his emotions entering this deciding game of the College World Series. He said, “Try not to cuss but win this damn game right now!” He went on to praise Kade Anderson’s impact on the team saying, “Man, Kade, just being himself. Giving us a chance [to win it] today. I just knew when we showed up here today, this was going to be the outcome.”

Kade also spoke about the dominance of LSU baseball saying, “LSU is used to this by now. It’s number eight. I’m sure next year will be number nine. Just looking forward to celebrating this one with the boys and super proud of everyone who made this happen.”

Head Coach Jay Johnson shared his thoughts on the victory. He said, “I’m just so proud, this is a team. Our whole motto for the year was tough and together and that’s what they did from August 26th until now. I’m just incredibly proud, it’s only 12 returning players…That collection of talent not just became a team but became a family.”
