3 unanswered questions before training camp: Buffalo Bills edition
Sean McDermott's failure to reach the Super Bowl ultimately cost him his job. Before McDermott took over, the team had missed the playoffs for 17 straight seasons. Since he took over, they have made the playoffs in eight of the last nine seasons. But it just wasn't good enough to keep him in town. As long as Josh Allen is healthy, he will remain a franchise QB that many believe should have already hoisted a trophy. In our next set of "3 unanswered questions before training camp," we look at the AFC East, and the Bills are the cream of the crop.
Was the firing of Sean McDermott justified? Many believe the answer to be no. So, what will Joe Brady change/implement to get them over the hump and get them to the Super Bowl? That will start to take place in training camp, and with a brand-new fancy stadium, it better happen quickly, whether Josh Allen has enough weapons or not. The post-season window remains wide open with Josh Allen regardless of who dons the headset.
How long will it take for Buffalo to adapt to the new defense? Gone are the days of the 4-2-5, as the Bills will now switch to a 3-4. The front seven will be tasked with filling and finding new roles, and Buffalo hopes that the change will be enough for them. With double-digit win totals for the last five years, something has to change for them to make a deep playoff run to the Super Bowl.
The Bills acquired D.J. Moore, and that is a great addition, but most eyes will be on the tight end position and Dalton Kincaid. He has been injury-plagued the last two seasons. He must stay healthy and be a security blanket for Josh Allen when things break down, and they break down a lot for Buffalo. The Bills will look for a difference-maker on offense, and it may start with dumping the ball off to Kincaid more often.
