Alabama Football Strengthens Future with Commitment from 4-Star DB Braylen Gibbs
On Friday, Alabama football secured a significant addition to its roster by gaining the commitment of four-star defensive back Braylen Gibbs, who recently decided to switch his allegiance from Vanderbilt to the Crimson Tide. The 6-foot-2, 175-pound cornerback has previously been committed to the Commodores since December.
Ranked as the No. 257 player nationally and the 25th cornerback in the country, Gibbs hails from Knoxville Catholic High School in Tennessee. His decision to join Alabama came after multiple visits to Tuscaloosa and ongoing discussions with Alabama's coaching staff, ultimately leading him to believe that his future lay with head coach Kalen DeBoer and the Crimson Tide.
The commitment of Gibbs adds to Alabama's impressive recruiting efforts as the program focuses on building a robust foundation for both the 2027 and 2028 classes. Gibbs received an offer from Alabama in March, and since then, the bond between him and the program has only strengthened. His attendance at Alabama's A-Day event in April and a recent unofficial visit further solidified his decision.
Gibbs is recognized for his exceptional size and athleticism, making him a coveted prospect among college coaches. He drew interest from several prestigious programs, including Georgia, Notre Dame, and Tennessee, before ultimately choosing Alabama. With Gibbs, the Crimson Tide welcomes their third commitment for the 2028 class and their first defensive back. He joins linebacker Dustin Henry as foundational pieces for the team's future.
As Alabama continues to build its roster, the addition of Gibbs underscores the program's ability to attract top-tier talent from within the SEC, marking a successful recruitment against a conference rival. With a quarterback and a linebacker already committed, Alabama appears well on its way to assembling a formidable 2028 class.
