Arizona Cardinals fans have high hopes for Walter Nolen in year two
The life of an Arizona Cardinals fan relies almost solely on hope.
Every once in a while we see things come to fruition, Budda Baker and Trey McBride are really the only two consistently great players the Cardinals have had since the Bruce Arians era ended almost a decade ago.
Yet, we always come back to the well of hope and this last survey shows just that.
We asked, who do you think will finish second on the team in sacks (with the idea that Josh Sweat will be on the roster and healthy for the whole season) and the winner with a bullet is Walter Nolen.
Yet, not just Nolen leading the way with 50% of the votes, but B.J. Ojulari with 21% of the vote and second year pass rusher Jordan Burch with 14% of the vote.
While finishing second on the Cardinals in sacks may not mean much, if they replace the Calais Campbell 6.5 sacks, that would one of those three having more sacks in one season than they have in their career. That would mean those one of those three having more sacks in a season than the three had combined last season.
Yet, that’s the only hope that we the fans can have, because who else would be that guy?
I know we can all agree if the second highest sack total on the team is four or less, then no one would really care about who finished second on the team in sacks, but it would be great to see one of these guys make that jump.
Our friends over at FanDuel Sportsbook have both Nolen and Josh Sweat at +30000 to be the NFL Defensive Player of the Year.
The favorite to win the award is of course new Los Angeles Rams pass rusher Myles Garrett.
Do you think that Nolen can live up to the expectations this year?
