Arizona Cardinals training camp roster preview: WR Reggie Virgil
The Arizona Cardinals report to training camp on July 22 and begin the process of preparing for the regular season, forming the roster and determining starting jobs and roles on the team.
Leading up to the start of camp, we will take a look at every player on the offseason roster, their background, their contract, their play in 2025, questions they face and their roster outlook.
Here is receiver Reggie Virgil.
Reggie Virgil background, 2025 season
Virgil is a rookie out of Texas Tech. The Cardinals drafted him in the fifth round. The 6-3, 190-pounder caught 57 passes for 705 yards and six touchdowns after 41 catches for 816 yards and nine scores at Miami of Ohio in 2024.
Reggie Virgil contract details, cap hit
He signed a four-year rookie deal worth $4.9 million. He will make $885,000 this season in salary if he makes the 53-man roster and his cap hit will be a little more than $1 million.
Roster outlook, questions he faces
As a rookie and a Day 3 pick, he is on the roster bubble. There are three or four receiver spots pretty locked in, so it depends on how many receivers the Cardinals keep on the final roster and whether he can find a role. He is a willing special teams player, so that might be his path to the roster, but he should at least be on the practice squad in 2026.
