Boston Celtics Rumor Claims 3-Time All-Star Wants to Join Roster to Play With Jayson Tatum

A new rumor suggests a three-time All-Star is interested in taking his talents to the Boston Celtics because of his friendship with top star Jayson Tatum.

This has been a very interesting offseason for the Celtics, to say the least. Of course, they made the stunning trade that sent MVP contender Jaylen Brown to the same team that beat them in the playoffs, the Philadelphia 76ers. However, they also improved their frontcourt by selecting Chris Cenac Jr. in the NBA Draft and poaching Mitchell Robinson from top rival the New York Knicks. They also brought in greybeard guard Mike Conley.

Well, it looks like they could make another notable addition soon because three-time All-Star Bradley Beal could be headed to Boston, according to a new report from Jake Fischer.

Beal and Tatum have a tight friendship as a pair of basketball stars from St. Louis, Missouri. However, because they are just five years apart in age, the 33-year-old has served as a bit of a mentor for the six-time All-Star during his career. But is he the right fit for the Celtics?

Is Bradley Beal a good fit for the Boston Celtics?

At the end of the previous decade, Beal was one of the best scorers on the planet. Between 2017 and 2021, he earned trips to the All-Star Game three times, and in two of those seasons he averaged 30 or more points a night. However, over the last five years, his body has failed him, and he has become a shell of the player he once was.

He hasn’t played in 60 or more games since the 2020-21 campaign, and was limited to just six games this past season after he suffered a left hip fracture in November. While he is only 33 years old, his body seems more like it is 43. The big question with a Celtics signing is the price.

If he is willing to play for a discount rate and can stay healthy, adding Beal is worth a shot. For a team geared toward three-point shooting, he would fit right in as a player who has shot 38% from behind the arc for his career. Furthermore, he certainly would improve their bench if he was open to a reserve role next season.
