Browns May Part Ways with Pro Bowl QB After Just One Season
The Cleveland Browns' offseason has taken a dramatic turn following their major trade involving star player Myles Garrett. On June 1, the team dealt Garrett to the Los Angeles Rams, receiving Jared Verse and several future draft picks in return. This move indicates a shift in the Browns' focus toward building for the future.
Another key storyline emerging from Cleveland is the competition between 24-year-old Pro Bowl quarterback Shedeur Sanders and Deshaun Watson for the starting role. While many speculate that Watson may secure the position, ESPN's Jeremy Fowler suggests that the Browns could consider trading Sanders if he doesn't earn the starting spot.
Sanders entered the league with high hopes, especially after the Browns traded veteran Joe Flacco early in the season. Despite some flashes of talent, the rookie faced challenges with accuracy and decision-making, finishing his debut season with 120 completions for 1,400 yards, seven touchdowns, and ten interceptions.
Although his first year in the NFL was not exceptional, there were expectations that Sanders could still play a significant role in the Browns' future. However, Fowler's insights suggest that his time in Cleveland might be shorter than anticipated, depending on how the quarterback competition unfolds.
