Caitlin Clark's latest tech points to WNBA's officiating inconsistencies
Why did Indiana Fever superstar guard Caitlin Clark pick up her sixth technical foul of the season?
Well, Clark jawed a bit to a referee after a no-call during Saturday's home New York Liberty game and picked up a costly tech that leaves her within two of a one-game suspension.
After the best game of her WNBA career on Friday night, Clark couldn't avoid a Saturday setback with this latest tech. After giving another ref an extended earful after a bad missed call left her injured with no penalty but a warning, this referee didn't let Clark off so lightly for objectively much less pushback.
If you'd like to see the inconsistency of WNBA officiating in a nutshell, here it is. It's too aggressive a swing in the other direction to call a tech here after Clark only got a warning the other night. Either call both techs or don't.

The WNBA's officiating is the most criticized in all of professional sports, and it seems as if plenty of work is to be done to keep improving the overall system so inconsistencies like this don't keep bubbling up on game night.
What records did Clark break on Friday?
