Dell Rapids PBR Ascends to Top in Class B of Amateur Baseball Rankings

WATERTOWN — In a surprising turn of events during the second week of the South Dakota amateur baseball rankings for the 2026 season, Dell Rapids PBR has claimed the No. 1 position in Class B. Previously ranked third, they have overtaken both the Dell Rapids Mudcats and the Canova Gang, who now sit behind them. Meanwhile, the Renner Monarchs maintain their lead in Class A.

The updated rankings were released on June 16, reflecting the votes of the South Dakota Amateur Baseball Association commissioners alongside selected media members who cover amateur baseball in the state. The Cornbelt League continues to dominate the Class B standings, featuring the top three teams, including both Dell Rapids squads and Canova.

The rankings also highlight the Humboldt/Hartford Gamecocks, who share the ninth spot, marking the Cornbelt League's fourth entry into the top 10. The Sunshine League also boasts four teams in the rankings: Alexandria, the Parkston Mudcats, the Parkston Rays, and Platte. Notably, Castlewood and Redfield Dairy Queen are the only teams in the top 10 not affiliated with either of these major leagues.

The complete rankings are as follows: Class A — 1. Renner Monarchs (6-0); 2. Harrisburg Woodies (11-1); 3. Brookings Cubs (8-1); 4. Yankton Lakers (11-1); 5. Sioux Falls Brewers (4-3). Others receiving votes include Aberdeen Circus and Tea Steam. In Class B — 1. Dell Rapids PBR (7-1); 2. Dell Rapids Mudcats (5-2); 3. Canova Gang (6-2); 4. Alexandria Angels (7-2); 5. Castlewood Ravens (4-2); 6. Parkston Mudcats (7-3); 7. Platte Killer Tomatoes (4-2); 8. Redfield Dairy Queen; 9. (Tie) Humboldt/Hartford Gamecocks (5-3) and Parkston Rays (7-6). Additional teams receiving votes include Kimball/White Lake Nationals, Elk Point Colt .45s, Milbank Firechiefs, Winner/Colome Pheasants, Menno Mad Frogs, and Volga Cormorants.
