Diamondbacks continue marathon trip in Pittsburgh, Cleveland

The Diamondbacks finish off a three-game series and the first leg of a 10-game road trip on Sunday, July 26, with young left-hander Kohl Drake scheduled to pitch in his second career major league game at Nationals Park in Washington, D.C.

Manager Torey Lovullo on Wednesday, July 22, said it looks "very good" that Drake will stay up in the major leagues and get at least another start after his solid major league debut on Tuesday, July 21.

After the finale in D.C., the Diamondbacks have six more games on the road trip: three in Pittsburgh July 27-29, followed by three in Cleveland July 31-Aug. 2.

The Pirates, on July 22, were in the thick of the National League wild-card race with the Diamondbacks and several other teams. They are far back in their division, the NL Central, but took two of three games from Arizona at Chase Field in May.

The Guardians entered July 22 tied atop the American League Central with the Chicago White Sox. Cleveland got great news on July 22 with the activation of star infielder José Ramírez from the 10-day injured list. Ramírez had been out with a hamate fracture since mid-June.

Rookie Chase DeLauter has had a solid season for the Guardians, and the starting rotation, including former Diamondbacks right-hander Slade Cecconi, has remained intact all season.

Game times for the Cleveland series:

July 31: 4:10 p.m.

Aug. 1: 4:15 p.m.
