Florida Gators head coach Jon Sumrall landed his 24th commitment in the class of 2027 on Monday afternoon in three-star cornerback Kamauri Whitefield. He picked the Gators over the Oregon Ducks and Nebraska Cornhuskers.

Whitfield is the fifth defensive back to commit to the Gators in the class of 2027.

Florida Gators land three-star CB Kamauri Whitfield

It’s a nice addition for the Gators, who have done a great job building up the back end of the secondary. The 2027 class had seven defensive backs, including a couple of late commits in safety Eric Parks and cornerback Javier Jones.

Whitfield is a little underrated right now, ranking as the No. 733 overall recruit and the No. 82 cornerback, but he was a heavy priority for three Power-4 schools. Out of The First Academy in Orlando, Florida, Whitfield becomes just the seventh commitment from the state of Florida, which is a little low for Gators standards. However, it shows that the national brand is still strong, and Sumrall is doing a great job of rebuilding it.

Whitfield is the 24th overall commitment in the class of 2027.
