Florida State named a frontrunner for blue-chip 2028 WR in Louisiana

Florida State got things going last month in the 2028 recruiting cycle, and they currently have two players committed. An even higher-ranked prospect is on their radar as well, and that's four-star wide receiver Cayden Lancelin.

The Seminoles extended an offer to Lancelin on April 8. A day later, he took an unofficial visit to FSU, which was one of several trips he took during the spring. They ended up making a very strong impression on the 6-foot, 180-pounder, and it's put them in a great position in recruitment.

According to Sam Spiegelman of Rivals, Lancelin has five programs that are standing out to him. They include the LSU Tigers, Texas A&M Aggies, Georgia Bulldogs, Miami Hurricanes, and Florida State.

When speaking on the time he had during his visit with the Seminoles, Lancelin was very complimentary of head coach Mike Norvell and his staff.

"It was the real deal out there. They are very competitive," Lancelin told Rivals. "Coach (Mike) Norvell -- he’s a real one. The atmosphere, when we walked in, was crazy. The whole coaching staff was in a circle greeting us."

Lancelin gets most of his praise from playing the wide receiver position. However, he also plays some free safety at Westgate High School in New Iberia, Louisiana. He's listed as the No. 165 overall prospect, the No. 23 wide receiver, and the No. 2 recruit in the state of Louisiana per Rivals industry rankings.

If FSU wants to continue being a frontrunner for Lancelin, they need to make sure to get him on campus for a visit during the season.
