Before the controversial ending to Folarin Balogun's World Cup with the United States, he had been quite impressive.

So good, in fact, that three of the world's biggest clubs are trying to acquire him via transfer.

ESPN reported on Wednesday that PSG, Chelsea and Tottenham all want Balogun.

This is what ESPN shared in its transfer rumors section:

"Paris Saint-Germain, Tottenham Hotspur and Chelsea are vying for the signature of USMNT and Monaco striker Folarin Balogun, as reported by Footmercato. Balogun, 25, has impressed at the World Cup, despite being the center of attention for having his red card vs. Bosnia and Herzegovina rescinded by FIFA after a call from US President Donald Trump. Monaco have already drawn up a list of possible replacements for Balogun and have submitted a €15 million to sign Nantes' Matthis Abline."

Balogun, as it notes, currently plays for Monaco, which competes in France's Ligue 1.

PSG would be most familiar as a league opponent, and they'd also be the most glamorous destination. They've won the last two Champions League titles in Europe.

Chelsea is a regular powerhouse in England based in London, and Tottenham is another London club that is coming off a season in which it barely held off relegation from the Premier League.

Balogun has all the traits of a top striker -- physicality and speed, size and strength, and also a sense of where to go on the pitch. He made all the right runs in the U.S. loss to Belgium, but he was too often lacking the service he needed from his teammates.

His name will be more well known after the red card controversy, but don't let that overshadow his talent.

Balogun is almost certainly going to a big club. The main question will simply be: Which one?
