Another Clemson baseball talent flies off the board as Jacob Jarrell is headed to the Atlanta Braves organization. The Clemson senior catcher was selected by the Atlanta Braves in the eighth round of the 2026 MLB Draft, going 232nd overall. Clemson baseball announced the pick on social media Sunday, congratulating Jarrell as another Tiger came off the board.

The Braves now add a Clemson catcher to their system, and that local fit will naturally get some attention. Atlanta has built a reputation as one of baseball’s most recognizable organizations to acquire Clemson players, including Spencer Strider and Eli White, and Clemson now has another prospect to add to the mix.

Jarrell leaves Clemson with a strong résumé. Across four seasons, he played in 176 games with 164 starts, hitting 44 career home runs with 133 RBIs, a .519 slugging percentage, and a .375 on-base percentage. He also became the first Tiger since Seth Beer to lead Clemson in home runs in back-to-back seasons, doing it in 2025 and 2026.

His final season was his best. The South Carolina native hit 18 home runs, drove in 50 runs, and earned Second-Team All-ACC honors while also landing on the Buster Posey Award Watch List. He was a three-time team co-captain, a three-time All-ACC Academic selection, and won Clemson’s Tiger Baseball Award in 2025, which goes to the team’s best leader.
