George Pickens Returns to Cowboys Facilities Ahead of Minicamp
George Pickens is back at the Dallas Cowboys' facilities after receiving the franchise tag earlier this offseason, signaling his readiness to dive into preparations for the upcoming season. As reported by Jon Machota of The Athletic, Pickens underwent his physical on Monday and is expected to join the team for minicamp this week, marking his return after missing the organized team activities (OTAs) earlier.
This news aligns with comments made by head coach Brian Schottenheimer, who expressed confidence that the star wide receiver would be present for minicamp despite his prior absence. "I expect he'll be here," Schottenheimer stated earlier this month via ESPN. "I think he's in a good spot, but, again, I know he's handling his business. I know he misses his teammates, and we miss him too. You know how we feel about him. We love him. This is just part of the business."
Pickens, who was tagged by the Cowboys earlier this year, will remain with the team for another season, albeit at a salary lower than what he initially sought during contract negotiations. Last season, he enjoyed a remarkable year, amassing a career-high 1,429 receiving yards along with nine touchdowns.
The Cowboys are eager to have Pickens back as they look to build on last year's performance and strengthen their offensive lineup.
