Get to Know Your Orange: #13 QB, Joseph Filardi
It’s time to start preparing for the 2026 Syracuse Orange football season. We’re going through the roster to take a look at each Syracuse player as we get to know a lot of new faces for Year 3 of the Fran Brown Era.
Up next is…
Name: Joseph Filardi
Position: Quarterback
Year: Sophomore
Height: 6’1”
Weight: 195 lbs
Hometown: Dix Hills, NY
High School: Half Hollow Hills West
2025 stats: Filardi played in four games, starting three games at quarterback. He passed for 226 yards with a touchdown and three interceptions. He also rushed for 87 yards and a touchdown.
2026 projections: Much like last year, if Filardi appears on the field, the indication is that the Syracuse season has gone extremely sideways. The addition of more experienced quarterbacks from the transfer portal pushes Filardi down the depth chart. It would take a lot for him to see the gridiron again for Syracuse.
How’d he get here?: Filardi is a walk-on for Syracuse. He committed as a dual-sport athlete, also appearing for the men’s lacrosse team.
What’d recruiting sites say?: An unranked recruit for football. A four-star defender and the No. 52 recruit in the nation for lacrosse ranked by Inside Lacrosse.
Social Media: @joseph.filardi
Interesting nugget o’interest: Filardi isn’t a pushover when it comes to football. He was named First-Team All-State twice and was named the 2024 New York State Player of the Year as a junior.
Let’s get a look at ya: The lone touchdown pass for Filardi last season came against one of the teams in the national championship.
